Calmena Energy Services launched the Directional Drilling group through the acquisition of Pan American Drilling Services; as a result, Calmena has established operations in the United States and the growing markets of Latin America. What differentiates this group from the majority of its competitors is ownership of technology. Calmena can better support its Directional Drilling business by supplying superior downhole equipment engineered and developed internally through Drilling Technologies. The customer gains improved service quality, reliability while drilling and responsive reporting from our in-house engineers.
Well Bore Positioning
Directional Drilling is about well bore positioning. From the planning stages through the operational execution, Calmena can provide the equipment and expertise to keep your well bore on track and on target. With a reliable fleet of our Tornado™ drilling motors paired with any of our MWD Technologies, Thunder™ Pulse, Cyclone™Pulse, or “Lightning”™EM, we can prepare the best combination to effectively control your well bore.
Examples;
Tornado™ plus Thunder™ is a very reliable combination for the majority of directional or horizontal applications when drilling overbalanced. It is retrievable and capable of operating in well blended LCM mud systems of up to 20 lb’s/bbl, has a pressure rating of 20,000 psi and an operating temperature limit of 302 F.
Tornado™ plus Cyclone™ is a new combination made available through our Drilling Technology group. It incorporates a patented non-compensated rotary pulser or Cyclone™ Pulse technology. This combination is very effective for the majority of directional or horizontal applications, when drilling overbalanced. It is retrievable and capable of operating in well blended LCM mud systems above 20 lb’s/bbl, has a pressure rating of 20,000 psi and an operating temperature limit of 302 F.
Tornado™ plus “Lightning”™ this combination encorporates an EM telemetry system and can be used in overbalanced and more importantly in underbalanced applications that are conducive to EM signal. It is retrievable and capable of operating in most mud systems, has a pressure rating of 20,000 psi and an operating temperature limit of 302 F.
